Abstract

This research aimed to explore the impact of video media on the listening comprehension of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 6 Palembang. The study was inspired by the fact that many students still struggle to understand spoken English when it is taught using traditional methods, especially audio-only materials. The researcher believes that using video media which provides both visual and auditory input can help students improve their listening skills more effectively and with greater interest. This study used a quantitative method involving two groups: the experimental group, which was taught using video media, and the control group, which received listening instruction through audio-only materials. The students who learned through video media were more engaged, more motivated, and better able to understand the content. Based on these findings, the researcher concludes that video media is an effective tool for teaching listening skills to young EFL learners. It is suggested that teachers use video materials more often in English lessons to make learning more enjoyable and successful.
