An Analysis of Second Language Acquisition for Early Childhood at PAUD Harapan Indah

Abstract

This study examined how young children at PAUD Harapan Indah in Kenten Laut  Village, Banyuasin Regency, are learning Indonesian as a second language. The study's main goal is to comprehend how kids who were raised speaking Palembang as their first language start learning and using Indonesian in a classroom. The findings show that children go through different phases of learning a second language, which are impacted by things including age, exposure to the language, and instructional strategies. Play-based learning and the use of visual media are key components of effective learning methodologies. The native language's interference and the absence of support for Indonesian outside of the classroom are major obstacles. This research has important ramifications for the creation of successful second-language acquisition techniques for young children in multilingual areas..
