Abstract

The General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) is a crucial pillar of Indonesia's democratic system, overseeing all stages of the election process. Bawaslu's presence is explicitly regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, which affirms the institution's position, function, and authority. This article aims to analyze Bawaslu's legal position within the constitutional system, its authority in organizing elections, and the challenges in its implementation. The research method used is a normative-juridical approach through a review of relevant laws and regulations, doctrines, and legal decisions. The results of the study indicate that although Bawaslu has a strong constitutional position and broad authority, obstacles remain in enforcing election law, coordination between election management institutions, and limited resources. Therefore, institutional reform and strengthening of technical regulations are needed to improve the effectiveness of election supervision in Indonesia.
